Sisters Nahla and Nour Abdelnasser grew up surrounded by Egypt’s textures, traditions, and stories. Inspired by natural materials and the hands that shape them, they set out to reimagine Egyptian crafts for a new generation.
In 2013, they founded Ellie, Then Ellie began as a small passion project with a clear intention: to revive appreciation for handmade Egyptian pottery. From the start, it wasn’t just about creating decorative pieces, but about restoring pottery as something functional, meaningful, and part of everyday life.
Ellie evolved into a collaborative platform, working with over 200 local artisans. With a strong focus on empowering women, the brand began building a supportive ecosystem where craftsmanship could thrive—blending traditional techniques with contemporary design and purpose.
At the heart of Ellie lies a balance—honoring heritage while designing for today. Each piece reflects time-honored methods, natural materials, and modern standards of functionality and safety, making handmade pottery both artistic and practical for contemporary homes.
Looking ahead, Ellie aspires to become a global voice for Egyptian handmade pottery. With dreams of immersive retail spaces, artisan-led factories, and training centers, the mission continues: to preserve tradition, empower makers, and redefine handmade as a powerful, living identity.
